Water level keeps going down in the return pump section of sump

Was just curious my water level in my sump return pump compartment keeps going down every 1-2 hrs it's not leaking or anything its bone dry in the area, i know it wouldn't evaporate that quickly. any ideas?

how is your drain setup in the tank? sounds like your return pump might be pumping more water into the display then you are having it return down.

Look at the level in your overflow box. It may be taking quite a while to stabilize the flow up and down.

Turn off the pump long enough for the overflow to drain and then look at the level in the return compartment right after the pump starts.

Compare the level in the overflow and return just after pump start and then an hour or two later.

Yes. If its not any of that you have a leak somewhere lol. Most likely the water is being used up before enough is there to make a "loop" back to the pump

Do you have an ato? If so check your salinity, if it is going down then your pump is returning more water than the drain and your tank water level will rise If salinity is stable then its evaporation.
If you dont have an ato how are you topping up?
Have you tuned the drain pipe valve in accurately?

What kind of drain system do you use? Pushed harder, a durso can periodically ‘flush’ which would vary the water levels in the return section.
