Where should the water level be on a rimless tank? Where is it on your tank?

I'm installing an overflow box, the instructions say the top of the overflow should be 1/8" or more below the top edge of the tank. Why would I want the overflow/water level lower?

Is anything other than flow rate a factor in determining the ideal water level?

I'm new to rimless tanks and overflows, any help greatly appreciated.

My water level is 2inches below the rim.. I’m not sure if that’s common though. Just got it up and running.

Hm... is it rimless? High flow rate?

2" seems low but I have no idea. I was just hoping for a higher level because my tank is only 13" tall.

I want the water level as high as possible I'm guessing, right?

On my Reefer 450, the water line is 1 inch below the edge of the glass, with the VarioS-6 return pump at maximum. Seems about right. No issues with accidental splashover.

The 1/8" is in case your teeth in overflow get clogged, the water will be able to overflow into the overflow lol. So then it wont create a flood. It's an emergency 1/8' gap before water goes over top of the tank with clogged teeth.
