Just wondering as to how high you keep your water level in a rimmed tank. I keep mine about 1 inch below the absolute top on the plastic rim. No real reason, just out of habit. Also, it gets a little freaky looking when the water is up to the top.
Any structural concerns come into play?

No. The tank is made to be filled. I try to get it just above the bottom of the trim but it fluctuates sometimes.

I have a Waterbox, I keep it about an inch from the top... keeps most of my snails from jailbreaking. Lol... my overflow pretty much prevents me from overfilling it.

I also get less splash out from my melanurus wrasse.
Anyone having trouble with a bright green algae type growing at the waterline? It’s hard to remove from the glass. Perhaps phyto related?

That brings me to my next question. I get the same buildup on the silicone seals and their overlap. Even with brushing it’s getting harder to remove without damaging the silicone. Any thoughts?

For that you use Mr Clean sponges. Takes it right off. I like the little sheets they recently came out with.
