Just started a nuvo 8. Dropped in a cobalt mj900. It's fairly loud, hoping it breaks in soon. It's seems to be spitting tons of micro bubbles into the display. I can't find the source. The water level sits about 2 inches above the pump in the return chamber. Is this too low? There's also a whirlpool that sits right above my return nozzle. I'm wondering if this is normal as well? Thanks for any help!

You can add more water. I bet when you do the whirlpool and microbubbles will resolve. I keep my water level about an inch from the top of the chamber 2 (heater chamber or refugium) wall.

If my maxijet is too close to the water's surface it will pull a "whirlpool" above it and once the tip of that reaches the pump itself it makes loud noise and spits bubbles. More water to raise the water line further above the pump or a different pump.

The issue is a low water the mj900 is removing more water than is coming in from the overflow. As stated you can raise the level a little but this does remove the skimming of the water surface which is what the overflow is suppose to do. A small pump would most likely work to get it back to the correct water level in the rear chamber. Use of an ATO like a Tunze nano

is best to use on a nano tank so that you keep a constant water level in your tank .This also keeps your salinity at a constant too.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm going to tweak a few things and see if helps. I just added more water to the return chamber and it's holding an inch below the heater/fuge wall. Bubbles still forming around the intake on the pump at the bottom. I might throw a small piece of poly fiber along the bottom, or flip the pump so the intake is at the far side of the chamber. I'll update in a little bit.

Thanks everyone! Raised the level and flipped the pump so the intake faces the outside wall. No more micro bubbles and it's running quiet! 20151203_090757.jpg
