Water levels on DD Reef Pro 1200

Upgraded to the DD Reef Pro 1200 due to old tank exploding. I am new to sumps and associated equipment. I just can't understand the water levels any advise welcome

Welcome! Are there baffles or dividers in the sump? Basically the chamber with the return pump needs to have enough water to never run dry and enough room to hold the amount of water that comes down when the pump is off.

Pump needs to be submersed and covered in water
If not- allow more flow from tank as pump will pump out more water than us coming in
If too much, you’d slow pump flow down which you can slow down flow to allow more water to come in
