Water mixing

OK so we are buying a house and it has a water softener that is attached to the whole house. Is it safe to run that through my RODI system to make my water? Or do I need to find a way to tap into the water before the softener to make my RODI?

Yes it should be completely safe. I would still have your water tested to see what's actually in it though.

Post water softener will actually extend the life of your membrane.

Yes, it is fine to use. Most RO/DI makers recommend it to help the membrane last longer, but the DI will likely deplete a little bit faster using the softened water.
