Water movement for waterbox 220

I am curious to see what type of powerheads or gyres you would recommend for a waterbox 220 gallon. Display is 167 gallons, tank dimensions are 72x25x24. I am have been looking at mp40 and Nero 7. Was thinking possibly 4, two on each end. What would you recommend? Thank you for your time.

Have you looked at sea sweeps? They are pricey but worth it, imo.
I will be running 2 on my 60×30×22. No equipment on the walls and the powerhead cords run through the sweeps.
This will provide all the flow needed even as the tank grows in.
I was running 6 powerheads in my old standard 120 for flow.
2 Tunze 6255's on the sweeps.

No I have never seen that before, they work pretty good? How much were they if you don’t mind me asking. Would you recommend the tunze 6255 as well for mine? That does look pretty slick.

I like your strategy; two on each end of the tank. Flow should be chaotic. Heads should not all be pointed in the same direction.

This is just my opinion, but I firmly believe the types of wavemakers you use should be determined by what types of corals you want to keep. For example, I have a mixed reef but it's majority LPS. Lots of Acanthophyllia, Scolys, Elegance, Bubble corals, etc. So I gravitate towards gyre style wavemakers (Red Sea ReefWave 45s), because they produce large sheets of water and a random, gentle flow.

If I had an SPS dominant tank, I'd probably gravitate more towards the Vortechs and their strong, concentrated flow.

What is going in the tank? That makes a huge difference in responses.

It’s going to be a mixed reef tank mostly LPS to start but I’d like to get into some SPS also down the road.

Your mp40 x 4 idea is a good start, IMO. Otherwise, I'd consider two gyres on the back wall and mp40 x 2 on the ends.

Sea sweeos are not cheap. A little over 500 for one. The 6255's would work on your tank. They are not cheap but have a 5 year warranty and you dont need to run them at 100%.

I just did not want any pumps on the walls. This combo should be all the flow I need for an sps system.
