Hopefully it’s OK I post here on R2R about a situation with my freshwater tank.... I could use your advice.
I decided to better organize under my 72 bowfront last night. It’s Aqueon with a wood stand. I finally set up shelving and everything in the stand, yay!
This morning we got up to find water on the tile floor all around the tank—sides, front. When I looked behind the tank, I saw more water and what was going on: last night I had taken out my battery air pump that was still in there from a vacation, and I forgot to take the airline tubing out of the tank. It made a siphon and was dripping all night through the airline tubing down the back of the tank.
The wood stand is wet all around the perimeter, but I think it’s wet maybe underneath too, I can’t tell. The stand is thick on the bottom so I can’t feel that it’s wet, but on the back by the drip it’s wet on top.
That scares me because I am afraid of warping. What scares me more though is that mold could grow under/on the wood base. My son and I are both sensitive to mold and have asthma, and I don’t think I’d feel comfortable with it up if mold is likely to grow.
So right now after mopping up all the water I could, I’ve got the windows open by it and fans aimed at the base to dry.
I’m thinking that I might have to take my stand down. I could either get a new stand, take it down and get rid of my fishes [emoji853] or I could finally set up the 92 corner bow I got from Craigslist in Jan 2017. (The tank had only been used for freshwater and I took it down myself from an office where it was being professionally maintained, so it was very clean, bonus!)
I think the 92 might be a good option EXCEPT that it’s been empty in my garage this whole time and it’s been so hot in there! I’m worried the silicon has dried up and would also leak.

I think so far you're going the right way about it. You'll probably get some warping as you wont be able to get all the water that's in the cracks and under the wood already. But fans blowing on it at high will definitely help. Are you able to drain the tank and slide it out of its spot to get what's underneath the tank stand?
maybe to set up a saltwater tank in the future
