My 110 tank with 40 gal refugium has been cycling since march 6. I have been testing water every other day and today they are:
ammonia .50ppm
Nitrite: .25ppm
Nitrate: .20ppm

Should I see the ammonia dropping? It has been at .50ppm since 3/9.

Also have live sand and cycled live rock.

40# live rock (wife put me on a budget)

Are you ghost feeding? What test kits are you using? I’d throw a bottle of bacteria in it and a dead shrimp and keep testing, it’s a pretty big system and hasn’t been running very long

live rock shows up ready, post pics.

there are one thousand .5 ammonia misreads logged on the web, this may not be any different. how a thread is titled determines largely if the respondents accept the test kits as accurate or not, but the truth is what test kits do runs independent from how we feel about a title.

transferring live rocks among tanks, or among cities, does not kill the bacteria nor the worms its always a test misread. Ive never seen one valid reading in the matter, its twenty years of solid misreads in fact I've seen.

check that log of work. goes back 4 years in some links. That's how rare it is for transferred live rocks to leak ammonia.
