I’m looking into getting a couple anemones. My tank is about ten years old. I have a wet dry sump which obviously has a lot of biological filtration since parameters are usually under control. Or at least seem to be. There’s no algae blooms or anything. Anyway my question is will this system be able to house a couple bubble tip anemones or should I look into getting like some filtration bags of chemi pure or more filtration bricks? Is there a way to not have to shell out hundreds of dollars on a new sump( I know I️t will be cost effective and better for all the livestock in future) but what I have right now in this tank works. So can anemones live in this?

Also what should params be at for them?

Probably the most important thing is lighting. They like alot of light. I have mine in a biocube with radions at 100%. Also they like water with some nutrients. My nitrates are 20ppb and my phosphate us at .15. If your tank has been up for 10 years with your present setup and you have been successful i would not do anything different

Thank you and I also have a bubble coral and some euphylia corals, and goniopora, all successfully, the bubble is getting huge but the clowns are always banging and rubbing I️t which is why I need those anemones. But because the corals are fine, I assume the anemones will be fine. I will check what light i have when I get home and let you know. I think that they are led though.

I have a bunch of bubble tips in a 30g with some live rock and NO other filtration or skimmer and a worn out 175w MH. They are growing great; super healthy. Don't overthink it. They need strong light and stable conditions (even stable dirty conditions like mine).

One word of caution. Anenomes like to move around. Sometimes they may find a spot next to a prized coral and injure the coral. Just be aware. I have my nems in a dedicated nem tank. However there are many who keep them in mixed reefs. I just did not want one deciding to take up home next to one of my acros

You were being diplomatic when you said dirty. I just said some nutrients lol

Ok so what I’m hearing is I should be fine as long as I keep I️t stable and have good lighting. I’m pretty sure my lighting is led More specifically the current USA marine led lighting.

I don’t know those lights. I run mine on a 12 hour schedule. With a ramp up and down. They are at max for 8 hours

I've can't count the number of threads I've seen on this forum of people with those lights and Anemone's with light problems. Everything else I would say you're fine, in the lighting department I would say insufficient unfortunately.

Ok then what lights would you suggest. Would I be able to just add on lights or just replace these? And with what kind of light?

Also not looking to break the bank with these.

Exactly what you decide to go with is kind of up to you, but ideally you're going to want something that can output approximately 200 PAR at the bottom of your tank. There are a ton of options out there from T5 addon to China black boxes to high end LEDs, it's all about how much you want to spend.

So I’m looking to spend around 150$ tops. Thinking maybe T5s? With my led strip that I currently have. How many watt per gallon is 200 par at bottom of tank?

I keep two nano AIO systems both are nem heavy , your is defo established I would say at 10 yrs as others have said they don’t need all zero’s . Good full spectrum lighting the occasional feed and don’t forget a good current with flow . They will find a happy spot but this maybe at the expense of your established corals! You will not keep a nem tied to one spot necessarily straight away after introduction to your tank ... beware they may well want the prime spot your prized coral has right now ...good luck
