Hey guys just started this tank up 4 days ago. Thought I'd do some test. I know my Dkh is low same with my PH. Should I worry about that until my tank completes it's cycle? I'm also using live sand and live rock.

Salinity 1.026

Dkh 6.9

Cal 440

PH 7.8

Ammonia 0.25-0.50

Nitrite and Nitrates 0.00

During the cycle the only things I would be concerned with is ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. The others don't matter so much as you don't have any coral that require them until after the cycle :)

What test kits are you using? What is your ammonia source and when was it introduced?

pH is fine. Don't chase it. You could wait on alkalinity or adjust now, your choice.

Ok I was wondering if the Dkh and the PH will stabilize over time or is it something I'm going to adjust when I do water changes? I do use RO/DI water. Another question I do use Live rock and Live sand. will that speed up the cycling process.

Thanks agian

It's something that you'll adjust with both water changes and dosing (if necessary when the time is right) Live rock and Live sand will help speed up the process as opposed to dry sand and dry rock, but it'll still take some time :)

It may, but testing for ammonia, Nitrite and nitrate is key. You could add a bottled bacteria such as bio spria to help speed up the process.
