Hey everyone. My tank has been running since August and I have never tester the water parameters until now. I put live stock in without know the parameters and nothing has died ( a goby did go missing though), but I figured I should start keeping track of the parameters since reading all the threads. I currently have a clown fish, Striped Bristletooth Tang, a Purple Queen Anthias, 4 turbo snails, 2 green star polyps, a bubble tip anemone and a sand star. Sorry but do not know the scientific names of them. My temperature is about 72 degrees and the parameters are
PH- 8.2
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrates-5
and Salinity is at 1.023

Are these numbers good?
I do have a sump with a protein skimmer- i am not sure which one it is since the tank was used and the guy forgot what it is.
Thanks for your help

Hi, and welcome to R2R!
Your temperature is on the extreme low side... most people keep their tanks between 78-82 or so
Other then that your numbers look pretty good. Maybe your salt could use a little bump up a bit. What size tank do you have?

Yes, the bacteria resides in the rock, some in the water, but not enough to sustain a tank.

Thanks Mike. I have a 75 gallon with a 40 sump.
Where in CT are you? I lived there in the Bethel/Danbury area for 28 years.

I live in Meriden.. (My whole 46 years except a 6 months excursion in Wallingford.. Lol) I also have a 75 gallon..and a 29g sump.

Other than increasing your temp and bumping the salt a bit like mentioned above your off to a great start!
