Hi all, so I don't have a ATO and I basically add a bucket of fresh water every 5-6 days, which is about 4-5% of the total water volume. The salinity is always within +/- 0.001. I'm wondering if this would considered "not stable"? Should I top off more frequently? Thanks

That would be best but if you have less demanding livestock it should be just fine

i use my ATO mainly to introduce Kalkwasser into my system. i consider it as a "lazy mans" way of doing the whole bucket deal and A LOT less work. it also keeps your water params more stable as you consistently have the same levels rather then letting them change for the last 1-2 days then changing them again as you add the 5 gallons of water. im assuming you have a 90 gallon tank (as do i) and those 5 gallon buckets get heavy after a while!

@Snoopeeyy haha that's exactly where I am now. The thing is I don't have much room by my tank where I can fit a decent size reservoir for the ATO. Anyway, what's your target alk.? I read it a few places that we should aim for 10 dkh. What's your water params?

Calcium - 460
Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrite - 0
Phosphate - 0.25 (using phosguard to get it to 0)
Ph - 8.3
Magnesium - 1480
Alk - 10
Salinity - 1.025
