Hello I have recently bought a Red Sea test kit, to use on my tank which has been running with a fish for 4 months roughly, so basically the test shows I have trace ammonia, no nitrite and some nitrate, should there be some nitrites or has it not cycled properly? I use Ro water with prime (water conditioner) to detoxify any ammonia. But just weird how it seems to have missed a step?

A little yes, but do not chase your numbers. Feed as normal and monitor water weekly or sooner if needed to allow it to raise naturally.
You may also for a piece of mind take a water sample to a trusted LFS and have them test to verify your reading and compare with your results.

Your tank numbers are fine in my eyes.
Prime binds ammonia so its non toxic. It does not get rid of it. In 48 hours it releases it back into the water.
Since you say ammonia is low and you have nitrates, testing for nitrites is not really needed. You have bacteria thats processing everything
