Hi there, I got a 22.7 gallons mix reef which consumes 0.15 dKh for alkalinity daily. So how much All For Reef should I dose to maintain the alkalinity? Currently 8.5 dKh for alkalinity. The parameters for calcium and magnesium are stable.

Stick with the instructions and watch your levels every few days initially (nothing much will happen for the fist week). Every tank will convert at a different rate so there is no ‘one answer’ I’m afraid. The first few weeks to a month will have fluctuates until balance is found. I have three tanks dosing AFR and they all moved differently.

What I did was to maintain two-part dosing for 7-20 days until I saw my Alk creeping up then slowed down the two-part until I stopped it entirely. You might see faster mag depletion for the fist year btw. Think someone said it was due to coralline growth, but I’m not sure. Also, don‘t throw away the two-part as you’ll likely have to make corrections from time to time. AFR is NOT a precise dosing method by any standard, but it’s dang convenient. I recommend an ICP test after six months as some things will be out of wack, but not by much.
