Hello,

I just joined Reef2Reef tonight after many visits over the years. I'm turning my 75 gal FOWLR tank into a macroalgae tank. I may add soft corals like mushrooms, xenia, some leathers and maybe an LPS or 2. The lighting on the tank will be 2 AI Prime HD's.
My question for any of you macroalgae tank owners is, do you use RO/DI water on your tank, or would that water be too pure/clean for macroalgae and soft corals that like "dirty" water?

I've been in the reef hobby for 10 years now and I want to try something new, which is why I'm diving into a macroalgae tank. I'm going to live with macro's rather than constantly fight them. That and having a tank full of algae with a, hopefully, massive pod population would be great for a mandarin.

Thank you.

Welcome to R2R! Always use RO water. No need to chase a lot of bad things that come from not using it, even for macroalgae.

Tap water, as opposed to RO/DI, is a different kind of "dirty".
