Am I the only one that buys cheap corals from local fish stores just to get a water sample to test and to compare to my water quality?

Can’t say that I’ve done that. How do they compare?

No. I trust my tests over lfs tests.
All 3 in my area use api, go figure.

I test the water that comes with the corals with my test, and im kinda doubting api right now because on two different test kits nitrates in one kit consistently test 40ppm and the other test 10pm

Can’t say that I’ve done that. How do they compare?

The local reef store salinity is spot on 1.26 petco is 1.24. As for ph ammonia nitrites and nitrates everything has come out exactly the same in all three waters, kinda not trusting api atm

Hopefully it’s actually 1.026 and 1.024 .
