What other sources besides RO / DI water can I use? I am going out of town and didn't get a chance to go to the store for my weekend pick up of water.

Please let me know if glacier water is good or not. Also can I use the distilled purple cap that food stores sell.

If you could use anything else than why is everyone using RO/DI? ;)

It is not ideal, but in a pinch you can use other water. Make sure to de-chlorinate it. Also check that there are no chloramines or anything dangerous.

Distilled water would be the second choice. Avoid vending machines at al costs, you are at the mercy of their maintenance and it usually consists of replacing the sediment filter which has nothing to do with TDS removal and wiping the machine down with some bleach.
Third choice for me would be a staffed water and ice type store where a live person can take a TDS or conductivity meter and show you the TDS readings before purchasing water. Its not usually RO/DI but I have found over the years most stores take extreme pride in their water quality and become very interested when you tell them it is for a reef. They become your best friend!

I use distilled water for my tanks. The only issue I have is that it is sometimes hard to find.
