I've always used ro di water but was wondering if you could use the water created by a dehumidifier in a mixed reef aquarium? I live in Florida and due to the high humidity levels we often run dehumidifiers to maintain a stable humidity level indoors. The humidifier draws moisture from the air and it accumulates in a reservoir. I have tested the water out of curiosity a few times and it is always o.oo TDS. I know people who drink this water as it seems pure but can it be safely used in a reef tank as top off water or mixed with a quality salt for water changes? Appreciate anyone's input on this.

I wouldn't use it for two reasons.

1. It's also pulling out dust, odors and who knows what else.
2. The cooling coils are either aluminum or copper....and some of those ions will end up in the water.

If you have a hand-held TDS meter, check the water coming off of it.

I have tested the water that collects and it always 0.00
