Hi all, new to saltwater and aquarium keeping in general. When I first bought my tank I did little to no research and just filled my tank (55 gallon) with tap water and added a conditioner, a half bottle of marine stabilizer as the LFS guy instructed me to do which I now know is not ideal. a local store in my area sales RO water for a good price per gallon and was wondering if I should slowly start changing the water over 5-10 gallons at a time once per week or to just let my tank continue to cycle and then start slowing changing the water over to RO. thanks !

Honestly you need to get your own RODI system. Several reasons why. 1 you will get tired of needi g to fo to the fish store to buy water. 2 you cant trust a fish store to maintain their RODI system to provide 0 TDS water. 3 what if you need water when the store is closed, things happen and you may need water right now. Setup a water station so you always have RODI water on hand, a Brute or trash can works great for this. Plus you can use the RO water for drinking water so it becomes useful for more than just your reef tank.
Yes I would do a 100% water change with new water made from 0 TDS RODI. Just get all that tap water out of the tank and avoid any issues from the get go. This should not effect the cycle of the tank since you should have the sand and rock dry out with just a large water change.
