I have a faucet tied in to my water softner I would like to know can you hookup
your ro unit to it,and make water for your saltwater fish tank no corals,without effecting
your water quality or harming your fish , top off water and water changes
I want to store water in drums in my garage for that purpose and make water .Or do
I need to bypass water softner and do a separate faucet no using the softner thanks

Using a water softener will extend the life of your filters.

so it wont have no effect on fish even though u r using salt in softner,wont effect salinity or create health problems for fish tks

The way they function (as long as they regen at night with no water on in the house) salt does not end up in your piping system.

Even if some salt gets in your pipes, your RO system will remove it.

The softener swaps out calcium and magnsisum (and some other things) and adds back sodium in its place. An RO/DI takes out all of these and is not causing any degradation of the water.

FWIW, the RO membrane will likely last longer using softened water, and the DI may deplete very slightly faster.
