Water softner

How does a water softner affect my reef?
Welcome to Reef2Reef!

A water softener will help the performance of your RODI system, assuming you use one.

Yes i use one. Is there anything i should be aware of by using the softer water?
Not that I can think of. I doubt you will notice any difference other than your RODI filters lasting longer.

I believe our friend @Frop got some expert advice on a water softener recently. Maybe he'll chime in and give us the link to it.

Just don't neglect your Carbon filters regardless of your TDS readings. Softeners are great if you have hard water going into the house.

I wouldn't say I have expert advice on water softeners. Thanks tho. :) But I do use mine before the RODI filters. And all the manuals for RO membranes use them too.

I'd say it's better to have it than not.

I though there was a thread with your water softener question.
