Water storage barrel - jalapeños

Any reason a food grade barrel that had jalapeños can’t work for RO/saltwater storage?

I would obviously rinse with water and either bleach or vinegar.

I would assume pickled jalapenos? If so mainly vinegar based? I think it would be okay. Maybe fill with some water and let it sit for awhile and test? I think food safe containers shouldn't leach?

I use ones that had pickles in them, rinsed and scrubbed with baking soda paste to get the pickle smell out don't see why this would be much different.
