Those that have RO/DI at home and store your water, a few questions for you.....

1. How long do you let the water sit in the holding container?
2. How often do you clean said water container?
3. What do you clean the said water container holder with?

1. No limit to how long you can store RODI.

2. Don't clean the container. No reason to.

I use the watercwithin 3 days of making it and I clean every 3 months with bleach /water mix then flushing the container with cold water until you can no longer smell bleach

Is that really necessary? I've had my 40 gallon Brute for years. Never cleaned. No ill effects on fish.

That is what I was thinking. Only because as water sits in there with no light stuff will still grow and then you put it into your tank. Just was thinking about that as its time to change the filters on my unit and figured why not clean it as well.

There are many posts on R2R where people acquire slime and other foreign substance
I’ve seen various issues in storage containers the last couple of decades

That is what I was thinking. Only because as water sits in there with no light stuff will still grow and then you put it into your tank. Just was thinking about that as its time to change the filters on my unit and figured why not clean it as well.

I agree! wasnt sure if it was just me. I do have a slick feel to my mixing pump in there and wasnt sure if it was related. My fresh water tank is fine though.

Ok. So you are speaking of stored salt water, not plain RODI?

Correct
The only concern with RODI water would be if filters were expired and silicates got into the tank but that is low risk

Question. I cleaned my bucket with dish soap and realized that wasn’t the best idea. Any way I can save it ?
