I have come to the conclusion that a brute trash can will be the most cost effective way to store water. I like some of the tanks that have a srew on top and a bulkhead fitting on the bottom but cost+shipping is outrageous. I can buy 4 brute cans for the cost of 1.
Any one have any sources or suggestions on water storage on a budget?
Thanks,
Darren

Brutes are great. You’ll be happy with one. If you want to get a different type of tank you might find one at a local farm supply store. After 25 years of using Brutes, I drove to a tank supply store in my state for a pair of 105 gallon tanks. You’re right, shipping them would have been outrageous.

Brute user here as well, heater, mixing pump all dropped in from the top, no bulkheads or fancy stuff
it does have a float valve for the shut off for my ro

for water out of the brute, i toss a big mag (18?) pump in and pump it out with a python hose. i use the same pump for tank water changes as well, toss it in the sump and pump it out with the same python hose. I use a remote control for an outlet. easy and cheap setup.

I pump right out of a hole in the top of my Brute can to my tank upstairs. I use ball valves to switch between mixing the water and pumping upstairs. I keep a 78 degree only heater. Very easy, but if I was storing for more than a month, I would get a better sealed container.

The other option is craigslist for 55 gallon drums (that were used to hold food items.) Just searched our area (central NJ) and found a number for sale....ten bucks each.
