I am using a Brute trash can to hold my RODI water. I don't have any powerheads circulating water. I noticed after about a week or two the water starts to have a smell to it. Not really sure what the smell is. Does anyone else have this problem? The same goes for my Brute can that holds seawater. Any ideas?

You need to keep a power head in there. If problem still exist might get all in one uv sterilizer that should take care of the problem

I've noticed ammonia creep into my water after a couple days of mixing my water in a 35 gallon Brute. My water is heated and circulating. A UV sterilizer would prevent this?

Check your rodi ammonia is prob coming from there during the summer municipalities increase chloramines in the water

I circulate the saltwater but dont my reg RO water. but +1 to checking the RO/DI ammonia level. Prob high. Can also attribute to the smell.

That's odd because I've used Brute cans for both rodi and sw for years and never noticed any smell. I'm not sure ammonia will make it through a rodi unit.

If municipality is starting to add more chloramines to the water for the summer you will see ammonia as ro/di will not take it out unless you use specific filters for it.

Here is a thread down here in Dallas where all across town we are getting .5 ppm of ammonia after ro/di
