Hello, I have an issue with my AIO tank running a little on the high side. My question is could water flow from my stock return pump be an issue? Or is there no correlation between water flow and temperature?

the past 2 days I have not run my LEDs to help maintain the temperature but it would not be ideal for me to continue this approach. I also do not see the benefit of purchasing a chiller for such a small tank (32.5 gal).

Pumps of any kind, weather return or wave maker, can induce heat while operating.

How much heat really just depends. Excessive heat could be from flow resistance, debris, mechanical issues, etc.

Hello -
1: Is this new?
2: Do you have a heater on the system? It could be out of calibration and be holding your system high.
3: Do you keep your home warm? If so, the house temp + pump temps could be holding it high.
4. Does keeping the lights off make a difference?

Worst case is your house is warm, heater does not turn on and your life support gear is all necessary. Then chilling choices are Chiller, iceprobe if it's only a few degrees, or evaporative cooling using fans.

I live in Fairfax just south of you. I am running a 15G AIO with 285 g/h pump. We keep the house pretty warm. No issues at 79.6 max. Hovers around 78 mostly. But the 50w heater stays on too long for such a small amount of water and overshoots. Tried a 150 and the temp swung wildly. It was just to hot. I guess that may be one other thing to check for you. HTH.
