my tank is running too cold and i can't seem to get the temp. up. it's hovering right at the 70 degree mark, and i can get it to come any higher. i currently have TWO heaters in my tank and they appear to be running all the time. they are both decent size heaters, but can't seem to keep up. anyone ran a heat lamp on the sump? i hate to keep throwing heaters at it, but i have two more small ones in can put in it if absolutely necessary.

Had the same problem last mouth. I have four heaters. Even though the heater lights were on , I looked close at the water touching the heater and could see that the water was not heat refacted around all heaters. The failed heaters appeared to be on all the time but they were not heating.

What is your total water volume? What size/brand heaters at you using? What's your room temp?

about 50 gallons. the heaters are the same size and brand as the one in my 39 gallon freshwater tank that stays right at 76 year round. room temp is about 70-73.

this is a possibility, guess i need to grab them and see if they are even warm.

Umm just unplug the heater before u do tht. I got shock when I try tht it was a fail heater

found both heaters had lights on, but were not getting warm. i had a couple 50w heaters in the garage i threw in just to have something till i could get a replacement today. last i looked last night the temp was 69.9, this morning it was 73.2 when i left for work. at least its a slow warm up, maybe my coral won't completely died off.
