Hi folks!
I transfered a Duncan frag from my wife's tanks to my tank. Wife's tank is crystal clear and my tank "was" too.
Now, after about an hour, my water is turning green!
Any ideas why?

Green water is a algea bloom . UV sterilizer will clear it right up.

Yep. I realize it was an algae bloom. Just not sure why after simply adding a Duncan frag. I turned my uv light back on and now the water is clear again.

I think its likely that your tank is too sterile from the use of uv or other things. The lack of biodiversity of the microfauna means thats its more succiptible that a new organism can come in unchallenged due to lack of natural competition and explode.

Ur wife's tank likely has a strand of bacteria or algae that has no natural check in your tank.

Edit: thought you said bacteria bloom instead of algae. Added algae above

Do you use well water. I had well water and talk about green water. Put uv on it and never had the problem again.
