The first attempt, looking for feedback.

There will be sand in the tank.

Thanks!

I used a couple of "L" shaped 1/2" acrylic pieces and used silicon to glue them back glass.
Well, since you said you're looking for feedback, I'm not sure how much I'd trust it to stay in place. My other concern would be the added stress on the plastic overflow and on the glass.

Kinda looks like a shelf to me. Just one person's opinion.

That is what I was concerned about. I think i need to add some more rubble to the sides and bottom to make it look a little less "shelfy"

The overflow is glass, so I'm a little less worried about it holding than I am about it looking too forced.

@T-J what would you suggest?
If you intend on keeping that type of rockwork, I would suggest bracing it from underneath in some fashion. I'm just afraid of it letting go of the glass and crashing down at some point due to time, weight and water movement.

I love the look! The way the shelf floats is awesome. Instead of using an “L” shape with one side fixed to the back, try a stand-alone “C” shape and then attach to the bottom and back so that gunk doesn’t get trapped. Sand will cover the bottom support too. Stress test out of the tank is also easy - just pile extra weight on top.

Is it important to you to be able to clean the back of the tank?
