Waterbox 20 maintenance questions

I added the intank media basket with my WC and had to add extra water, is this normal? I used a square of blue filter floss on top and green on the bottom.

Is it normal to have higher water levels after changing this?

I will probably use the center basket for purigem or carbon in the future.

What is everyone's maintenance like in the back chambers?

i keep bio media in the middle chamber and the first chamber i just change out some filter floss twice a week thats it and everything runs smooth, water level shouldnt affect it unless you added more filter maybe it raised it a bit but make sure salinity is on point dont wanna add to much fresh water

I do have bio balls in 2nd chamber I can move to middle rack instead of purigem or carbon.

I just finished cycling so I did a almost full WC, my salinity stays around 1.026.

I didn't touch anything in the 2nd chamber, just tossed the sock and put in the media chamber.

Does this look right, just one square on each level?

yeh that works great i use the same floss you have you can add more layers i do and sometimes i do add a bag of chemi pure blue aswell helps with the phosphates

What happened was the filter floss slowed the water down going over the over flow so your return ran out of water to pump so you had to add more.
Just remember if you keep removing things or adding stuff this is likely to change you flow which will mean either adding more water or taking some away which will likely change your salinity so just work out if you need to add plain water or salt to top up the tank.

I have similar flow through my fluval evo 13.5 tank. I notice my water level in the return chamber go down and it tells me my filter floss needs to be changed out. Typically my floss can get changed every other day on average, you can buy a bulk roll of it on Amazon and cut the floss pad to fit.

I think you want the blue side down, the white is the actual floss the blue is the backing, will work better.

Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't sure. The other is the same so I'll switch those around when I get home.
