So, it all started when I got a new Midas blenny for my Red Sea e260. My clown fish HATE him. They beat him up, chewed off his tail, and nearly killed the poor guy. I have him blocked off in one corner of the tank, but a few weeks went by and it was clear he would never be welcome. So I bought him a new Waterbox 25 gallon :). Tank came in Friday, here it is being thoroughly inspected… I called it a CAT scan…

I decided to use Marco rock and build something myself. The glue finally got here today and this is what I came up with. I was going for a bit of a bonsai look. Critiques welcome! Sand and water will go in tomorrow

Wow with the Midas blenny and clowns! You have me worried now. I have a 40B with two clowns. I have on order Midas blenny, Court Jester and Blue Star Leopard Wrasse. I hope the clowns don't beat up the new fishes when they come in.

Your rock work looks awesome!

Apparently some clowns are fine and some are a*****s to the new fish. Just my luck. I thought they might get over it, but a month later and the female still chases him every time he comes out of his cave. I just have to keep him alive a couple more weeks while the new tank cycles!

And thanks! I’m pretty pleased with the way the rock came out :)

Tank is wet and cycling. Started with Fritz turbo 900 and a PNS product from Algae Barn. Dosed with ammonia. Today ammonia is dropping and nitrites are rising, so it’s on its way :)

That's awesome that you're setting up a new tank to save your blenny! Love seeing that kind of respect and effort for the animals in this hobby.

Update…tank is cycled, it’s been in and out of the ‘ugly’ phase with a bit of diatoms, but nothing too bad. It has its first inhabitants! I have always wanted a helfrichi firefish. I managed to find one of them along with a possum wrasse online. They came conditioned, not quarantined…it seems near impossible to find a fully quarantined possum wrasse, they don’t seem to tolerate it well. They certainly don’t ship well…the firefish arrived bright and perky, the wrasse was laying in the bottom of the bag, he looked near death. It was a good 48 hours before I was sure he was going to make it. They are both eating reef frenzy, seem to be settled in. The firefish is stunning, the possum wrasse has the funniest face - he comes right up to the glass when he sees me coming and begs for food, lol. So far, so good!
I threw in a pectinia frag I had and some GSP to cover the ’island’. Now I just have to catch the Midas blenny that I bought the darn tank for, he’s not cooperating. Living in my display tank under a big fish net so the clown can’t beat him up. I’m trying a fish trap tomorrow, we shall see…. :)

Looking good. I am thinking I need an island in front like you did. I once had Xenia island it was fun…until a convict escaped the island :)

Love the scape and the idea doe the project. I've started something similar, but always end up adding an angry tang or angel.

Getting there…slowly. Have all 5 fish in there now, just starting to add a few corals and see how it goes. I’ll have to get more recent pics, but the tank is now home to a pair of storm clowns, a diamond back goby, a possum wrasse and a helfrichi. So far, so good. Oh, and the Midas blenny that was the whole start of this project? Can’t catch the son of a gun, lol. He spends a lot of time in his cave because Of the clowns, but coming out more and more. I think they’ll work it out eventually :).
