If. i could go back 1.5 years, would not have purchased this tank. Found out I love the hobby. A horrible experience with vermitid snails pushed me over. New dry rock, sand when moved 2 weeks ago.
The Filter socks are not lasting more than a few minutes. Using ecofi white felt from johann fabric. Sew them up. Plugged. Water is clear. Sock looks fairly clear for less than 30 mins.

Used live sand, epoxied dry rock. Feed every few days. No crabs or snails. Removed because infested vermitid snails. Hands up in air why a filter sock, newly sewed, last only 30 mins. Unplug pump, set a few mins, plug back in, and it will run about 10 mins before backing up.

Not sure if a skimmer would help in this situation. Following along hopefully something works out. Don't give up we've all been there .

I run a waterbox aio ditched socks the first week I ran it, replaced with intank media basket. Socks would get clogged in 24 hrs and would fluctuate my water levels in return chamber, thus causing my a.t.o to replensih tank with FW, and my DT water to rise.

I now run filter floss which is great because I litterly have like 100 squares i cut out of a big sheet that I just replace maybe twice a week. Way more convenient.
