I bought one of these, uses straight razor blades like old shaver. Can pinch utility knife blades on it too just not through the holes. Works better than any scraper I've ever had.

you can get them on the jungle site or the auction site, I’ve tried various scrappers and it’s the best I’ve found as you can change the blades when needed easily

Sunrise on the Reef! I sold my Innovative Marine 20 Peninsula, and got cash plus trade for this huge IM full-size media reactor. This was built for the massive SR120 AIO.

Fits in the return chamber. Not sure if I should throw in bioballs / carbon bag in it and get it running. Would there be any benefit vs just having the bags floating in the chambers?

As far as the skimmer it’s still breaking in, trying to get the darkest skim possible. A lot of people say this Skimmer runs wet, and AIO skimmers aren’t that great. I’ll give it a few weeks. If I’m not satisfied I may just sell it and use chemipure/GFO/Purigen in the reactor as needed. At the moment everything looks good, I basically did a 50% water change during the tank transfer. will do a water test over the weekend.

Spent some time today doing my best impression of “cable management”

Not impressive but at least there’s nothing on the ground and it’s relatively easy for me to remove any piece of equipment if necessary.

also setup my Jebao doser. I’m dosing Seachem Fusion two part. And finally setup my battery backup for the return pump.

QUESTION, does anybody know if the charger should be plugged in to the battery backup all the time? Or just charge it fully then remove charger? The model is a Coral Box battery backup but I can’t find info online and the instructions included were garbage.

Big changes these past couple of weeks!

I decided to kill two birds with one stone after much brainstorming, 1) very strong hair algae 2)redoing aquascape.

I had been dosing vibrant for almost two months and while it did stop and kill a significant amount of algae the rest was really rooted to the rock, and while trying to lower nutrients I also started getting dinos, to the detriment of the corals.

So I ordered about 6 caribsea arches and superglue+epoxy and designed some cool structures outside first. Then I removed about half of the rock, specifically the pieces covered in really thick algae. I scrubbed the ones with less algae and put those back in along with the new structures.

Now I have almost zero hair algae, and I’m very happy with the aquascape now! I have much more height and a lot of it is off the ground. Allows more caves for the fish while also providing more area for corals closer to the light! Now my focus shifts to battling dinos! I’ve started dosing microbacter 7, and hope that helps provide some competition, also I have elevated my nutrients a little.

On the gear side I purchased a pair of Nero 5s used as the 3s where too little flow, especially coming from only one end of the tank. The 5s are perfect! Set them at pulse in 180 phase mode for different time durations during the day.

I planned on switching my 26hds for a pair of 32hds but decided instead to jump to 3 26hds. Save some cash (especially with the price hike on LEDs) and get more light power, win win.

Moved all my softies/zoas to a waterbox 20 cube I picked up dirt cheap as well. That will be my ULM tank.

im tempted to start adding new coral to this tank but feel I have to beat these dinos down first. I’ve lost about 5 corals due to the hair algae and dinos. Luckily they haven’t been any of the expensive ones.

Time to buckle down for a long battle with dinos!

I have the Prostar 200 60x26x24, a bit larger I had a bit more trouble hiding the wires in this new tank all my other tanks not a big deal, I am using the supplied sump so the sump is on the furthest wall and I had to run everything to the front.

Several Months in the Planning I pulled the Trigger after a ton of research, I decided on the Prostar 200 Peninsula, I looked into Red Sea, Water Box, IM, SCA, Cade. I came to the decision on Prostar Based on Cost/Budget, and I Love the Preassembled Metal Stand, Wasn't a Big Fan of the Sump...

I agree with that the CADE is on the other side, but they cost a grip, the Prostar is really well built It is way nicer than I was expecting, and the customer service was really good.

Yes they are really well priced! I think they where even cheaper last year when I first saw them pop up, once they get a good reputation they’ll go up from there.

I went with this tank because i wanted a 4ft peninsula with as little water volume as possible since I will be moving next year and will take tank with me.

Yeah makes sense, I was going to get the 230 but it was to large for the space I have, the pricing will for sure start to climb I got it right before the most recent price increase from $3300 to $3800. Love the look of any size Peninsula even the smaller one look great in any space.

I’m using Kraken Reef x2 filter floss cups on the sock tray, I have 10ppi coarse filter sponge for mechanical.

I have a IM Full-size media reactor too which fits in the return chamber as well but currently I have it off, I have a IM UV sterilizer coming in tomorrow Im going to drop in there too try to finish off the dinos.

Sounds like a good set of equipment. Whats your stocking if you don’t mind me asking? I’m thinking about 12-14 fish and wondering if the tunze 9004 and filter floss can handle the bioload

Should be possible if you keep small fish and do either strict feeding or strict water changes. I actually bottomed out my nutrients fighting hair algae with vibrant. So now I’ve been feeding heavy and no water changes for a while, phosphate stays between 0.3-0.8. That’s simply with changing filter floss every couple days and skimmer. And heavy-ish feeding.
