Hi All,

I purchased Waterbox 60.2 at waterboxaqauriums.com. During tank inspection I noticed a seam imperfection in the front center bottom of display glass. I reached out to waterbox support team and their response -

“ When the silicone was not fully cured at the factory a finger looks to have touched the silicone. It is not structural and the silicone is fully cured and filling in the seam”.

Honestly I’m not so sure about that. Tank will be located in my living room and any leak will cause me big time. I’m expecting a higher quality and not this kind.

I did ask for replacement but response was -
“ it's non aesthetic and non structural we can't provide a replacement”.

Need your opinion on what would be my next step moving forward.

Is this mark visible only on the inside of the tank or can you see it front the front viewing plane- Sorry, I'm having a bit of difficulty visualizing where this seam is from the picture and your description (my fault, not yours :) )

Having the same issue trying to figure out where that is. If that's on the exterior, I wouldn't accept it. These tanks are works of art. People purchase them because of how pristine they are to look at.

In the 2nd pic, are you talking about the bottom dark spot? That's not really noticeable from a distance. I would think that's ok. I still can't tell on the other pic.

Just to clarify, with the picture from the top, that area where we can see through the tank- is that the same area with the smudge- as if that area doesn't have silicone?

Yeah, you can't see it. I also wouldn't worry about any issues down the line as long as you have it in writing from Waterbox. Their customer service is great, so I would trust them. I thought that maybe you had an eye sore to look at. Nice tank!

Yes the mark is visible from the inside. I’m concerned if the seam is compromised and won’t last long

No point me answering that, it will be purely opinion and I have stated mine. Hope it works out.

So here are my thoughts- do I think the seam is compromised? No. Would I worry about the tank failing? No. Would I be peeved? Yup.

This is just my opinion and I may be in the minority here, but if I just spend $1300 on a 60 gallon tank, I think I would expect a bit more finesse with the silicone job. I've owned some really fantastic custom tanks and I never had to deal with a rogue fingerprint or smudged silicone. If this were instead a cheaper tank, such as an aqueon tank, I wouldn't think twice about it (especially since I couldn't see it from the front), but at this price point, I wouldn't be the happiest.

I'm not even suggesting that I would return it/complain, just that it would bug me- or at least until I put water in it and forgot all about it :)
