Like most reefers, a little voice in my head told me it was a great idea to set up another tank. So off to FB Marketplace I went, and found a PRISTINE Waterbox Marine X 60.2. They said it was set up, run for a month, shut down, and just watched the water evaporate all winter. That brings us to now, with me scoring an essentially brand new tank, for less than 50% retail price. Score. I’m usually not one to buy used stuff (don’t ask, I’m a complicated person), but just couldn’t pass this up. This system will be replacing my Biocube 32, and will run similar to how my 75 gallon system is set up. I’m excited to have a smaller tank with a sump so I can actually get some better filtration and in turn will help me keep a healthier and more stable environment. I’m thinking SPS, nothing crazy high end, primarily branching and plating montis, slimer, etc!

Equipment run down (pretty simple):
2 x AI Primes on an HMS eail
2 x 24” Orphek OR3 Blue Plus
2 x AI Nero 3
Sicce Silent 3.0 return pump
Skimmer TBD
InkBird with 2 x Jager 100w heaters
Kamoer dosing pumps
Planning on All For Reef, but may choose ESV B-Ionic 2 part since I’ve had good luck with it on my 75 gallon

Future wants:
Hydros XP8, WaveEngine, and Control 4
I’ll probably remove the Nero’s and hook up Reef Octo OP2’s when I get the WE!

Don’t think I’ve forgetting too much, but will try to update as I go. Still need to work out scape, thinking a LifeRock tree kit, or something branching to that effect.

Welcome! You got that tank for a really good price :) if I’m ever looking to upgrade my waterbox 25 peninsula, this is the tank that I’d want to get! :)

Great little tank it seems! Really like how it easy it is to get everything plumbed and set up. I did full custom plumbing on my 75 and I don’t really want to deal with it again.

Got some parts ordered from AI, will be able to set up the lighting shortly after it arrives, though I’ll just have the Orpheks up til my Biocube is taken down. I intend on scaping with a Caribsea Tree Kit, and may do 1 small cave in the sand as well.

Also toying with the idea of a montipora dominant tank. Ideally I can picture a few plating varieties on the bottom of the rockwork, then have some branching from midway on up, with some encrusting scattered throughout. I really like SPS, but I just can’t come to terms with hundreds of dollars on 1” high end frags. The tank is for my enjoyment, not really feeling the hype of todays vendors!

That said, hoping to get it filled scaped and filled soon. I do have some media that’s been in a cycled system for about 3 years, so I will move that to the sump, and then transfer my 2 clowns, 1 bengaii cardinal, and 1 orchid dottyback, though I’m considering rehoming the dottyback. I’d much rather get a utilitarian fish like a yellow coris, or something that will help with some pests.

That’s about that for an update.

Excited to watch your build progress! I just received my 60.2 the other day and am planning on leak testing and filling with water tonight!

Got my AI HMS rail in, and Prime hanging kits. My 2 Orphek bars will be in on Monday. Crazy news is that the wifey said I could keep the Biocube up and running as a nem tank, I’ll keep it low maintenance and put the Steve’s LED back on it.

Nice! What are you plans with it?
I’m transferring my fluval 13.5 build that’s just a few zoas and a clown pair. Once that’s all settled I’ll be building a mixed reef. Transferred in some of the rocks today

Already switching some things up here. I’m going to leave my AI Primes on my Biocube nem tank. I’ve pulled the trigger on an @Orphek OR3-60 system. Doing 4 bars for now with a 5th added down the road. Will situate them as:

Blue plus
Violet reef day
Blue sky
Blue plus

Also figured out what @Hydros setup I’ll be doing.

Hydros XP8 to power:

Skimmer
O-six controller
Sicce 2.0 return pump
InkBird heater controller
Kamoer doser (maybe 2)
ATO pump which will be a Miluakee peristaltic pump

Hydros XS for:
Optical 3 level ATO sensor
Optical skimmer overflow sensor
Magnetic temp sensor

Hydros WaveEngine LE:
2 ReefOctopulse 2’s

Think that’s where I’m gonna land for now… updates soon hopefully.

The LED array looks so nice and seems to give a great coverage of light
It’s definitely wall to wall coverage. Will be shooting PAR this weekend and will post results. The Orphek Violet Reef Day is an unbelievable color, I almost wish I did 3 of them with 2 Blue Plus, but I wanted some Blue Sky spectrum as well.

How are you finding the two octo pulses on this size tank? I was worried about their strong narrow flow for a two foot tank, but they are nice and small.

I don’t have any corals in the tank yet so can’t really answer… only thing I can really comment on is that the way my scape is the flow definitely has a good collision at the center and seems to disperse flow nicely.

Tank is still going though the paces. Going to pick up an urchin and some zebra turbo snails tomorrow to help mow down some of this GHA. Finally shot PAR as well and it’s looking pretty solid to me for what I’m going for. I added a small piece of digi from one of my other tanks as a tester. It looks mad now, but usually has polyps extending. Probably going to queue up some water changes in the next couple weeks, and also looking to add a couple more fish.
