WaterBox Reef 130.4

HI Everyone,

I am looking to get a waterbox Reef 130.4.. I am going to be buying just the tank, Sump, and stand. I am not going to be buying their lights. I wouldd like to do my own lights, but want to get some input on good lights.. Have been looking at Kessil's, but how many would I want and what would be the best for a tank with fish and corals. Also, I will be buying the protein skimmer separate. I do have an ATO on my tank already so will not be needing that, but what else would I be needing for the tank? My current tank doesn't have a sump.. So it will be a learning experience for me. All the input is great. Thank you!

I love my Kessils. That said, it really comes down to the type of corals you want to have. Softies and LPS, kessils will work great. If you want SPS, you might need to supplement the kessils with T5s or something. For a tank of that size, I'd recommend 2 Kessils, and a T5 hybrid.

Thank you for that! What would I need for the sump? Just want to make sure I buy all the stuff prior to the tank honestly.. I want to be able to have everything on hand to set up the tank! As well what Kessils do you suggest? If I don't want to do SPS still 2 Kessils would be fine?Thanks.

As of right now I don't have to much interest in any SPS either!

You only need a return pump and a skimmer if you want. Only the return pump is needed during cycling.

Already have one, but will be buying another one. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. Think it is like a titanium something or something like that.. Have wave makers.. What Kessil lighting do you suggest? That will be doing a great job in LPS and Softies? That won't completely break the bank @Beau_B

I’m too much of a rookie to be advising on lighting... but I would think a couple a360we would get you going. They are an especially reasonable option if you can find them lightly used. I have 3 over my 170.4/5; I didn’t like the mild shadowing I was getting with two. Aesthetically the three is more pleasing, though what little coral I currently have was fine with just two.
