Waterbox Reef Salt

Any info on alk level?

Just swapped over to this salt, like it so far. Have done about 80% water change and sent an ICP. Only thing I’ve noticed that it’s much lower in fluoride than TM Classic

I won a free box of the Waterbox Reef Salt and have been using it in setting up a new 25g tank. I am trashing what is left of it. Waterbox's mix is just all over the place IMHO. Beyond mixing clear fast, it has no redeeming qualities.

In my initial set up I had set up three 5g buckets and mixed the first one per instructions with the amount needed to get 35ppt. After adding it, I tested at 37.4ppt. I figured the next bucket I would dose at the 33ppt and even it out. That bucket tested at 27ppt and I adjusted it up. The next bucket I dosed at 34ppt and it came in at 32ppt, again adjusting. Similar on the next bucket. My last was a 1g bucket and when I dosed for that size, I came up at 16ppt. There seems to be zero consistency to mixing it.

While it mixes clear, there are particles left over with every mix that muck up the tank. I am running bare bottom so I see it all. It's a mix of particle sizes ranging from sugar sand in size up to a left over food pellet. I just did my first water change and siphoned out the mess and replaced 3g. The bottom of my tank looks worse than before the water change/cleaning.

I have used the Red Sea Coral Pro before and it takes a little bit more time to mix, but I never had this hot mess of particles. I could follow the instructions on mixing levels and it was pretty spot on every mix regardless if I was mixing 40g, 20g, 10g, or 5g. While it doesn't matter, it also had a pleasant smell to it in both dry and mixed state. I am likely heading out tonight to get a bucket so I can do another cleaning and start the process of switching salts.

I have been using Waterbox salt since it was introduced. I love it! My LPS corals are nice and fluffy and look better immediately after my weekly water changes. The SPS also show great polyp extensions and are growing. I have it deliver to my door on a repeating monthly basis which is a bonus and doesn't cost extra. No more struggling with a heavy 5 gallon bucket of salt. Also, when I moved a new tank with corals into my home, I needed to do daily water changes and was running low in salt. I emailed Waterbox and two days later, I had a sitting at my front door. No added costs, just the $74 and some change.
Some have said it leaves residue, I have not experienced this in my water station containers. so far, I would recommend this salt.

Hi jimfish98. Thanks, I will gladly take it! I will let you know when I head to TSA and pick it up. Most likely the first half of Jan 2023. Thanks again!
