Directions how to make this same scrubber are below.
Project cost: Around $20-$25 (If you already have a pump, Dremel, zip ties and hole saw bit)
Project cost from scratch: $150 +/-
Things you will need
1. Maxi-jet 400-1200 pump
2. 1/2" rodi fitting to 1/2" thread
3. 1/2" thread to 3/4" pve inside fitting
4. 3/4" union
5. ball valve or gate valve (cpex is the best, cheap and easy to turn also has union on both ends)
6. 3/4" 90 degree elbow
7. 3/4" cap
8. roughly 24" of 3/4" pvc tubing.
9. 2 zip ties (to go around 3/4" pvc to hold screen)
10. 2-4 extra long zip ties to hold top of aglae scrubber in place under your tank. (Incase the suction cups on the pump release)
11. hole saw bit for roughing up plastic screen
12. Plastic canvas knitting screen from Hobby Lobby
13. PVC cutter and PVC primer & glue.
14. Light socket and Light. I read that a 2700k CFL Flood light works the best.
15. Dremel with cutting bit (you will need to cut a slit long enough for the screen to fit flush in the horizontal PVC pipe)
There is no specific dimensions since your sump will not be the same size as mine.
I make sure to let the screen hang below the water about 1/2" - 1"
You may need a couple pieces of acrylic on each side of the scrubber if water starts to spray (normally around the top where the screen is inserted)
