Last night we got a beautiful watermelon bta about 5 inches across. This morning we wake up and he is on the underside of a rock where no light whatsoever can get to him.

give it time to get to know your tank, somtimes with bta it happens they will go towards places with no light when they are newly interdouced to your tank.

when he wants light he will his the away to get it by moving towards places with high lighting

Anemones require light and flow. How much light and flow will vary from one anemone to the next.

Anemones are not coral; they have the ability to move around. Eventually your Nem will find a spot with the amount of light and flow that makes it happy and will settle in.

Can you provide a picture of your tank?

I have a BTA that every couple of weeks will start to do a small walkabout (crocodile dundee reference for you old timers). Luckily I have it on a large enough rock that all I do is rotate the rock so that he is roughly in the exact same spot before it started walking. It will stay there for a few weeks...rinse repeast.

Once they find there spot and are happy they will stay put.
It is not normal in my experience for them to be constantly on the move. If they are, they are searching for something. More or less light and /or more or less flow.

What everyone else said is correct. My nems walked for a day and each found their spot and have not moved since. They can also stretch pretty far. Mine have anchored in an arch and stretch around it everyday when lights are on.
