I have observed my chalice corals cupping and then flattening out.I have seen this with my mature colonies.Usually my frags will cup downwards first.

It looks like flesh not skeleton. If it is skeleton, the new growth is growing upwards due to lack of light. If you put it in a little higher light, it should flatten out. Also what kind of flow do you have it in?

Medium flow I'd say, it's definitely not skeleton

It's a good thing I asked I was considering changing a thing or two which is never good

I'm pretty new to coral so I don't know much yet, all my coral came to me from a person who was leaving the hobby so I had a crash course on corals lol

I agree it seems like the flesh is extending . Try moving it just a bit higher in the tank and see how it reacts.
