just picked up this beast of a colony, fresh from fiji, i guess chalices like this are uncommon in that area, so if i came up on a fiji watermelon...!!! what do you guys think? its not even close to colored up im sure. the rim is trying to go purple. you can see it better in person. a couple eyes chunked off on the way home so im gonna get those on a plug and see if they color up quicker than the rest of the colony, thats usually the case with my acros but im not too huge on chalices, so i wouldnt know. hard to pass this badboy up though.

I would go with dougers fiji super ultra watermelon... dougers just sounds right;) Looks like it will be pretty nice when it colors up..

I'm not sure about it being a watermelon, it is going to look sweet once colored up. That thing is a beast though!

what defines watermelon? growth? color? lineage? i dont know nada bout chalices but this is just so sick looking

Generally, watermelons are pink on the inside and have a green rim, its quite a treat in the summer time;) I do know that every watermelon chalice I've seen has a green rim...

thank you dude. heres some of the pieces that broke off, ill post more pics after they heal and color up, im pretty excited to see what it turns out to look like. im already starting to get patches of blue in it.

Actully watermelon chalices anymore are any chalice with a defined colored rim.Its totaly not just pink and green chalices,if so,thats boring.

you know what makes my chalices color up quick is putting them on the side of the tanks out of direct light. indirect or facing outward and they seem to color up fast for me. Good luck with the frags

thank you thank you. yeah i has about a 2x6in. strip break off the front of it, it was bigger than then box it was in. the flesh was still holding it together but i just finished it on up... my buddy had a chalice do the same thing and it slowly started to just melt off of the rest of the colony. definetly dont wanna lose any of this thing ha.
