Has anyone tried making saltwater from one of these? Curious to know everyone’s opinion. It’s super filtered water, i believe 7-8 stages but I don’t think it’s deionized.

Go with a bucket and get your natural sea water. I’ve been doing this for several months now every thing is thriving and I can not take the credit read Paul B articles well worth a read
Sorry are you close to the sea?
And the bonus no salt bill you would still need good f w for topping off your tank .

So I do have access to natural saltwater however it would be water from the Gulf of Mexico. Do you think that would work?

I prefer my own RODI system.
Me too, and I have a 7 stage system that’s produced a lot of water for me but I’m on a well system so water pressure is a huge issue as well as draughts effect how much water I can make.

Do you have a test kit get a little of the sea water and test it for PH / ammonia/ nitrate/ phosphate/ calcium/ magnesium/ one thing that will be different is salinity it will be higher or lower due to rain fall or no rain fall which you can sort easily. @blaxsun may have thoughts on this

Those water mills have RO, but of course not DI. DI is not used for drinking water. The quality of the RO water will be drastically affected by how well the franchisee maintains their system. Could be ok, but very well may not be.

Although I do take water from the sea, I can't take credit for that. I think it was God who put it there and all of our creatures came from the sea, none of them came from ASW. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Hi Paul that true but with some of your articles you show other people more natural approach to different way things can be done. I am using nsw and my tanks have never looked better thats not up to you. But reading what you have to say changed my approach towards how I now run my tanks . And you might not take a compliment but thank you for your articles and Threads . Thank You

Yep lots of people will have took notice of your articles when they have read them From reading your articles I only use NSW no more buying salt your trying to create natural sea water and if the sea is next to you there it is and you will never run out or miss the shop . I collect sea lettuce for my shrimp and fish that like to eat it . I also collect mussel what the anemones love and fish . If my clean up crew get down in numbers a bit I also get hermits and snails . Everything thing is there and I use the nsw on my tropical marine tanks as well as my cold water native tanks . Also as you have said in the past I know feed my anemones earth worms so the only thing I buy is flake and frozen mysis that is it . And it’s only by reading your articles that has got me to this point. Many thanks again. Iam reading one of your threads on reverse under gravel filter also a good read . Keep writing and give people your knowledge.

Thank you. But I normally make this stuff up as I go along. :)
