I'm getting a generator, was wondering roughly how many watts minimum it needs to be. Other than my lights which consume 350 watts the rest is up in the air on consumption. I have a small 90G tank and a sump. Have 2 return pumps one that flows through a 36watt uv. Also is a Vertex 150 skimmer. Also have a jager heater and 3 jebao pp8 powerheads. That's all that's plugged in. Figured roughly around 625watts total. The tv would also be nice to run while we are at it. I have a planned 6 hour power outage coming up(our power rarely goes out, probably once in the last 4 years. I have one of those usb powered air pumps with multiple extra power modules but figured why not just get a generator. My truck also had a power inverter with a max of 400 watts, that I could run an extension cord to if necessary. So looking for a generator with enough power outage to run the whole tank along with the tv. Any well educated guesses on plenty of wattage and reliable generator would be welcome. Thanks

If you don't know your runtime power usage and are planning on spending a good bit of money on a generator get a kill a watt meter or something similar for $25 on amazon so you can make and educated guess.

With all that stuff, with the TV a 2000+ unit should do fine. If you want to give your self some extra usage ability jump to a 2800-3500 unit. This way you can run a microwave or fridge.

Do you want....
Push start
Pull to start
Diesel
Gasoline
Propane
Natrual gas
Push or pull doesn't matter,
Gasoline. Thinking 1000watt minimum probably more like 1500watts atleast, noise not really an issue, just want to have enough watts to run the tank. Just dont want to get one that ends up not being enough juice. Have alot of nice livestock and since in getting older I'm worrying about these sort of things;)
