I have 2x WAV pumps in my 180g tank (6x2x2) and am having trouble with placement of my pumps. I currently do not have any fish/inverts in it, but plan on adding my first fish to QT this weekend to prep for going into the tank.

I have moved the pumps to 2 different places so far, both of which have caused my sand to move where a large section of the glass is showing, and a pile of sand results behind it. For the first position, I simply had one on each of the side walls, and only had a small hole. For the second, I moved both pumps to the back wall, about 1/3 of the way into the middle (will post pictures tomorrow) which resulted in a large hole. My pumps currently are only at 15-20% depending on time of day.

My question: Where do you put your WAV pumps in your tank if you have a 180g and what percentage do you have them running at?

I have in the past used unflavored gelatin to look for dead spots. A drop or 2 of beta carotene or beet juice to color them. Drop them in see where they collect. Let them dissolve as you have only added trivial amounts of amino acids and vitamins to the water.
