WAV pumps, how many?

I have a bowed 6' x 36 x 20 aquarium. I'm currently using 2 Neptune WAV heads. One at each end of the tank. They are set for inverse flow.

I'm guessing/asking, that the number of heads is probably related more to aquascape than size. With the idea of not having too many dead zones as well as creating areas of high, medium a low flow for the different coral needs.

Am I thinking about this correctly?

Yes,
Scape layout does make a difference.

Pump placement and flow direction makes a difference too.

I'd watch your WAV pumps using the inverse flow. I recently had an issue with mine where the pumps would ramp at different speeds higher than what I had them set for and stick at those speeds. Mainly 90-100% and only in inverse mode. Its a known bug in the latest Firmware. I'm sure Neptune is working on a fix since they have it documented. I noticed this when my sand and fish were getting blasted with flow. Then I watched the dashboard in Fusion for a day or two and figured it out.
