I currently have a Jebao cp25. My tank is a 96g with center rear overflow. Softies and LPS. I know now I need to get more than one wave maker but I am just not sure how to create the perfect flow.

I had 2 regular non controllable units in at one point but they are too much flow and aren't able to work in tandem. I picked up the cp25 and I have been able to get it to move a lot more water but having the overflow in the middle of the tank makes it hard to get the back corner's at the same time. I have been looking into getting another gyre style pump or getting 2 or 4 controllable wave makers that can sync together.

My personal dilemma is that the single cp25 seems to cause more flow than looks comfortable for the coral. Which could just be me being worried about the coral. I have tried MANY different configurations for the right flow and just can't get the whole tank comfortably. I assume with multiple wave makers that 1 or 2 are off while the other 1 or 2 are on and each side takes turns going back and forth depending on the program they are set to. How do you set these up without blasting the sand or coral or basically anything that should stay put?

The problem I have is the cp25 being such a small wave maker and causing that much disturbance. How are people putting stuff as strong as the MP40wQD and using 2, 3, or 4 and not turning your tank into a mess with the GPH being so high even on low?

TLDR How do you set up multiple wave makers in tanks without destroying or hurting everything when they are all so strong?
I realize there is no one answer to how to set up these, but I hope to get a better understanding of how this all works with this discussion.

Have you considered putting a small wavemaker behind your rocks just to clear out the dead spots? You could get the smallest Hydor Koralia just to keep things moving back there.

I have. Not what I want to do but if it's my only choice then I'll do that.

I know the delema. I have a 75 with a center overflow that sticks into the tank a ways. I have 2 gyre pumps (The 230 models) on my tank. They pulse back and forth opposite of each other. One will start at 40% then go down to 10% over the course of a couple of hours while the other starts at 10% then builds to 40%. They do this "tide cycle" 4 times a day. The sand stays put and the crud gets stirred up. On the back corners, near the bottom pointing upwards, I have the innovative marine wavelink pumps. They are very small and have a controller that is linkable. Those run all day and create just enough current to hit the dead spots and stir up the crud without moving the sand. I have the wavelinks on a timer so they shut off at night then fire back up at 8am. My sand and tank stays clean. Occasionally I up the flow for a few minutes to give it a good stirring.

Do you have any photos? I want to get the right setup this time. Not trying to get stuff I don't need or won't use :)

from the front and the side to show some depth

I am considering changing out my gyre 230's and replacing with wave makers. I've tried everything I could think of to get waves going. If I could get the gyres to do what I want, I would consider getting 2 smaller pumps for dead spots.

Which controller do you have?

What wave makers are you talking about?

Another question. How are the icecap gyre compared to the maxspect in terms of programmability and usefulness?

I have 2 Maxspect Gyre 230's with advanced controller. I'm thinking about changing to jebao rx-15 wave makers. I not familiar with the Ice cap gyre.
