Wave maker for nanos

Is it necessary for a wave maker in a nano tank?

Depends on what kind of coral you want to keep. You could probably get by without it if not keeping sps using an RFG nozzle and a sicce 1.5. If you want to put one in I would really recommend the MP10. The only other decent option is the KPS wavemaker but the MP10 is far nicer.

Depends what you plan on stocking the tank with. I had a jebao ow4 I believe it was on a nuvo 10 and loved it it was a small pump so it didn’t get in the way

Voted yes and no.

Depends what you want to grow and what you have. You still need flow but it’s possible if you have like an AIO system that your return pump provides enough flow for what you wanna grow.

Like all others it depends what you want to grow. I have a 20G and I actually have 2 powerheads running now and wouldn’t have it any other way. I have an evenly mixed mixed reef though so I need the flow.

IME, the short answer is, "Yes, they can be beneficial"

I've been using a Hydor rotating nozzle, attached to a 210 gph Tunze Silence return pump on a 12g near-cube aquarium for 12 years. Due to the tank's rounded corners and the 'scape in the center, it's been fine for a mixed reef with stony corals like Pavona, Montipora, Seriatopora, etc.

FWIW - For about 1/2 year I experimented with straight flow out of the return which resulted in ~25% more flow. However, the results obtained were mediocre and not nearly as good as the chaotic flow patterns created when using the Hydor, even though flow is somewhat reduced when using these rotating nozzle devices.

I have an upgraded return pump and two RFG’s in my 25g. I looks clean and the flow is fine for LPS, Euphyllia, and Rock Flowers.

So I bought this

I hope it’s as small as it looks

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
