Hi.
I am complete beginner and we introduced our first fish (2 x clownfish) and invertebrates this week into our tank.
We have two wavemakers set up at the back towards the top. I've struggled to find where is best to place them. Does it affect the fish much or is it more a coral impact?
Would it be better to place them on the sides and create some kind of circular flow?
I have it set to LTC but again still researching how i determine LTC or another setting is best.
Two photos of the tank attached. 325 litre tank.

I'm new too, only been doing it a couple of years. I have a couple of thoughts, but I wanted to see what others say as I have struggled with this. I think there are several goals with powerheads.
  1. Circulate water around the tank to help with detritus, and algae build up.
  2. Circulate water around coral and filter feeders to help feed.
For overall tank cleanliness, I think the goal is to have water moving all around your rocks. I know in my tank I have a lot of build-up in my tanks' corners by the overflow.

For corals, it will all depend on what type you are getting. Some like low flow and some like high, some like a constant stream while others like waves.

As you don't have corals yet, I would focus on just getting water to flow around your tank nicely. Try putting one higher and one lower. In my 75, I have four powerheads, all going in different directions.

thanks for your advice everyone. made the change and clownfish already seem to like it and have explored a little more of the tank. really helpful

That's great to hear that the Clownfish took to the wavemaker. Do you have an update on this again? How did you place your wavemaker and by chance a picture?

(I know everyone has a different aquascape), but is your wavemaker angled up, placed straight, or angled down?) Asking b/c I was searching and searching and your aquarium is same in size as mine. I just bought the same wavemaker, and haven't even placed it in yet. Any update? Have you had to move it at all again? Pics. lol, any help greatly appreciated!

Your Aquacsape looks great. Glad the advice above helped :)

Sorry off topic, do you have a refractometer? I only ask because i see the hydrometer on the side. Hydrometers are extremely inaccurate!

Sorry again off topic:p
