So... yeah, I am a gadget geek! And now... even worse (evil grin) I am back at reefing : ) After a long hiatus from this hobby, I am seeing a LOT of really cool new things that seem new to the hobby (some things I may have just not known about 15 years ago.) One of them is grabbing my attention right now... the wave makers! Come on now... that just sounds cool!

Can you guys tell me? Are these things really worth getting?

don't know how long you've been away from the hobby. when I left it, all that was available were the submersible power heads. jump ahead and now we have wave makers. I'm running 2 Gyre 230's. love them. programmable so there are alternating currents.

I was out for 15 years... power heads are new to me lol... I had pumps for that before.

oh... I thought you was asking for a new build.
My tank has been up and running for 10 weeks now. Am still not certain what my long term goals are for the tank. My plan for now is... 1 more fish, then nothing else till it’s a year old. I still have lots of room for things in my tank... I have even more room for learning more about what I’m doing (I’ll get there)

one thing I don’t want to do is limit myself with my equipment. I know I have a good start, but if I am going to make it to being able to handle a giant clam, then I want to make sure I am building in that direction. Right now I have “newbie” livestock. : )

Oh yeah... imma gadget geek too lol
